In a familiar but different 1930s, a young seamstress uses a strange, bloody opportunity to taunt a psychopathic inmate, hoping he will reveal the truth about the death of her best friend's grandson.
A young seamstress, CHLOE, works alone at night sewing alterations. Her best friend, OFFICER FORBES, a beat cop who has seen it all, checks in on her from time to time. His life was turned upside down when his grandson, TEAGUE, was murdered. Unbeknownst to Forbes, Chloe has stumbled across a pair of strange sewing shears. If she cuts herself and then cuts a piece of clothing, that clothing's owner appears in the closet. She uses this fluke of nature to torment a psychopathic inmate, STEFAN, sure he knows something about the murder. She calls Stefan relentlessly, keeping him from sleep, hoping he'll give her some information.
Chloe and Forbes share a breakfast. He encourages Chloe to do good deeds and when she sees how much he is still struggling with the Teague's death, Chloe decides to push Stefan even harder. The gloves are off. Chloe calls Stefan over and over and over, without breaks, until he finally confesses: the child isn't dead. Chloe realizes she can bring Teague home with a quick slice and snip. She just needs something he wore. She breaks into Forbes' house. Forbes catches her. He doesn't understand. They struggle. Chloe falls, the scissors stabbing her leg. She uses the ability to call herself back to the shop. She waits for Forbes to get there. With one final slice and snip, she calls Teague. Forbes finally understands and appreciates what Chloe has been doing to herself.
